Time flies

How can it already be three years since I started as a Support and Training Officer at PWSA UK?

It was a huge, life changing decision that I have not regretted for one minute.

Three years ago, I wrote an article called ‘I wish I’d known….’, detailing all of the intacrisies of working for a charity. I remember how I felt at that time so well – completely overwhelmed by all that I didn’t know.

And now look where we are – I am the very proud Manager of the Support team, and have come to know so many families on a personal level. We have been through so much change together on this journey! I have watched your children grow into young adults, welcomed new babies into our ever growing community, witnessed adults thriving at our family events.

As an Association, we have changed so much in the time I have been here – we introduced Facebook Live sessions, produced new leaflets, wrote new information, updated where we needed to and committed ourselves to improving the service we offer. A service that covers everything from a friendly chat to mediating with schools and residential settings to training and all that comes in between!

I cannot tell you how much I have learnt and experienced in the last three years – most wanted, some not! We are your support team and we continuously strive to do better – we are always learning and always looking to the future, but we want your ideas too. If there is something that we aren’t doing that you think would help, talk to us. Let us know and give us the opportunity to see if it is something we can provide.

I hope 2020 brings us all new adventures that we join in together, knowing that someone is there to hold our hand throughout.
